INSTALL
Download the APK on your Android phone, then open it from Downloads. Android may ask you to allow installation from the browser/file manager used for the download. Allow that source for this installation, then turn the permission off again. Keep Android security checks enabled. This Direct edition can install alongside the older Shield Demo.

UPDATE AN EXISTING DIRECT INSTALLATION
Open Updates under App updates. The button opens the official website in your browser and sends only the installed version number and the selected English/Spanish language. An older build downloads the latest official Direct APK; the current release shows You’re up to date. Open the downloaded APK and confirm installation in Android. Install over your current Direct app. Do not uninstall or clear data: your activation ID, Full activation and saved scan history are kept.
This button is free in both Free and Full. Shield’s scanner still has no Internet permission. App updates are separate from the signed .rsu database import feature. The prior marker correction, grouped findings, exact confirmation, Emerald Night and background scanning remain.

ENGLISH / ESPAÑOL
Use the English / Español buttons at the top of the app's home screen or on the official Shield page. The choice is remembered. The app's labels, instructions, findings, shared reports and notifications use the selected language. File/app names, paths, hashes and activation codes are preserved exactly. Changing language does not cancel a running scan or change Full activation or scan history. Android 13 and later also offer Shield in per-app language settings.

SCAN IN THE BACKGROUND
Allow Shield notifications when asked, then start Apps, Smart or Deep Scan. Locking your screen, pressing Back or selecting Run in background leaves the scan running. Tap its progress notification to return. Stop scan saves partial results. Finished scans can be reopened with View last scan results, View flagged items or View findings in scan history.
Android can still stop the app after a force stop, reboot or battery restriction. The app reports an interrupted scan without claiming completion. Scans have a two-hour battery limit. If your Xiaomi/Redmi still stops scans, review Shield's app battery settings and allow background use. Unchanged installed APKs can reuse cached hashes. Shared files are read fully on every run, and positive cached hits are always read again; Deep Scan can take longer.

TRY FREE FIRST
Smart Scan, apps-only scanning, full findings/reports, device guidance and the safe cleanup assistant are free. Read the permission explanation. All files access is optional and lets the app inspect accessible shared files. Android still protects other apps' private data. Scanning does not upload files, hashes or results.

ORDER FULL — $9.99 USD ONCE
Full adds Deep Scan, Shield Watch, optional weekly scans, signed offline database updates, and guided removal of selected files with confirmed exact fingerprints.
Select a Full feature in the app, choose Enter activation code, then copy the 32-character activation ID.

Use a goods and services payment if asked. Review the recipient, currency and total on PayPal before confirming. Contact the seller before paying if you need the refund terms.
Return to the Shield page and submit one form with your email, activation ID and PayPal transaction ID. Use your PayPal email if possible to help match the payment. No Crow account is required. The details are saved privately for the seller; submitting them is not proof of payment.
After Daniel verifies the completed payment in PayPal, he emails a receipt with your activation ID and activation code. Reply to that email for order help. Payment verification and email delivery are manual. PayPal handles payment details; do not send card details or passwords to the seller.

ACTIVATE
After the seller verifies payment, your receipt email includes an RS1 activation code. A small .rslic file can also be provided by the seller. Open Enter activation code in the Direct app and paste the full code, or use Import licence file. The app checks the signature offline. A copied code cannot activate a different installation.
Keep your receipt and code. Full is a permanent unlock for this installation, with no monthly charge. App updates installed over the Direct edition preserve activation. Uninstalling, clearing data or changing phones creates a new ID: contact the seller with your receipt for a replacement code.

SIGNED THREAT-DATABASE UPDATES
Official .rsu database files are downloaded manually and imported through the app's signed-update control after Full activation. The app checks the signature, digests, canaries and sequence; modified and older/replayed bundles are rejected. A Direct bundle does not activate or update the legacy Demo/Play edition. The .rsu bundle updates the probabilistic screening layer. The separate exact index is updated through new APK releases; its date and count appear in the app. No update frequency is promised.

READ RESULTS CAREFULLY
Confirmed SHA-256 fingerprint: Shield read the complete file and matched its bytes to an exact published sample record. The source and sample label appear in the finding. This confirms the fingerprint inside our app; it does not prove the file ran or the phone is actively infected.
Unconfirmed match: the screening Bloom filter hit, but no exact record confirms these bytes inside Shield. It may be a false positive. File deletion is unavailable for this result.
Permission review/high-risk access: powerful capabilities deserve review but are not proof of malware.
Known text marker: exactly the digit 1 followed by a newline (two bytes) is excluded from warnings by its SHA-256 and verified size. Other small files remain checked.
Repeated file fingerprints: one card shows the evidence once. View files lists every individual path. Select a file to inspect or copy its details; there is no bulk removal. Shared reports count distinct fingerprints separately from matched items and retain all target paths.
Empty file: it contains no bytes and is not a threat match. Unreadable, changed, oversized or capped files/areas are reported as incomplete coverage.
The exact snapshot contains 9,341 ESET / Échap SHA-256 sample records. Unknown/changed malware can be missed; no scan guarantees a clean phone. The score describes settings and scan coverage, not detection accuracy.
File deletion requires explicit confirmation, a current exact record and a new complete matching read. It is irreversible. If the file changed or the record was withdrawn, deletion is refused. Surveillance-software removal may alert someone monitoring a phone; consider a safe next step.
